This makes me angry. Like really angry. Fuck you Nick.
Whoa. I’m just as furious as anyone over the lack of females and the whole Irma situation (she was totally my fave. ._.), but I really don’t think they’re trying to play off Bigfoot as an “ugly female” that can’t get any love.
I haven’t heard too much about the episode (and obviously NONE of us has seen it yet), but from what I’ve gathered, Donnie saves Bigfoot’s life, after that she becomes overly clingy and attached to him.
I’m pretty sure the purpose of the plot is to open Donnie’s eyes to see what it’s like to have someone “obsess” over you. (Since that’s occasionally what Donnie does to April.)
No offense, but if I saved someones life and that person chased me around (being extremely physically affectionate to me), I would be uncomfortable too. It doesn’t matter who they are or what they look like. That’s not okay in my book.
If those storyboards are true, than it kinda proves the point I’m trying to make. I mean, as the dialogue goes:
Donnie: I just wanted to let you know I won’t be bothering you with music boxes anymore.
Donnie: I get it now. Donnie is to April, as Bigfoot was to Donnie.
I’m pretty sure he came to the realization that he’s been overly clingy to her. And yeah, maybe it finally strikes him that species should stick to their own kind. Bigfoot’s don’t work with mutants, and mutants don’t work with humans. After April kisses him, his last words in the storyboards were “I understand nothing.”, I’m pretty sure that’s because he had finally just accepted letting her go at that point. Thinking that’s what she would prefer or something, only to be confused over how she really feels.
I honestly saw Bigfoot as Bigfoot. Not an ugly woman. I’m pretty sure her looks aren’t what’s freaking Don out, but her obsessive attachment to him. Even if the creature was more “sexy and beautiful”, I don’t think it’d make a difference with Donnie’s behavior. He’s already established that he loves April.
